Rules for Doubles Play
CTA DOUBLES (FIXED PARTNERS) RULES
CTA doubles scoring system:
Matches will be the best 2 of 3 sets, regular scoring. A 7-point tie-break will be in effect any time the score reaches 6 games all in any set. 3 points will be awarded for each match. A team winning the first 2 sets would get 3 points; the loser would get 0 points. If the match goes to 3 sets, the winner gets 2 points and the loser gets 1 point. Games are played with add scoring. Make sure you record your game scores, in addition to your match score.
In the event of a tie between two teams at the end of the season, the 1st tie breaker will be based on “Sub Advantage” and the 2nd tie breaker will be based on head-to head play.
A team is determined to have “Sub Advantage” when their sub team wins. If the sub team loses, the team is determined to have NO “Sub Advantage”. The team without “Sub Advantage” will be awarded first and the team with “Sub Advantage” will be awarded second. If neither team has “Sub Advantage” or both teams have “Sub Advantage” the second tie breaker, (head-to-head) will be reviewed to determine first and second place.
CTA doubles sub rules:
If you cannot play, for any reason, it is your responsibility to obtain a substitute and inform your captain of the name and phone number of your sub before the scheduled match. If your team has a sub more than once in a league session, your team is not eligible for an award.
CTA Sub Scoring:
Sub Team = a team that has 1 or both players as subs.
The sub team is eligible to earn up to a maximum of 1 point regardless of the number of sets won. If the sub team does not win any sets, they will receive 0 points. If the sub team wins 1 or 2 sets, they will receive 1 point. One sub team playing against another sub team could actually earn 1 point each if the final score is 2-1.
League Team = team with no sub(s).
When you’re playing against a sub team, the league team will earn a minimum of 1 point regardless of the match score. If the league team wins against the sub team in straight sets, the league team will receive 3 points. If the league team wins against the sub team in 3 sets, the league team will receive 2 points. If the league team loses against the sub team in either 2 or 3 sets, the league team is still awarded 1 point.
CTA Forfeit rule:
If your team, or your sub team, fail to show up for a match, your score is zero and your opponent gets 3 points. By forfeiting any match within the session, your team is not eligible for an award.
CTA Rescheduling:
Captains and/or the league director may reschedule matches in cases of inclement weather. These matches will be made up during the rain out week.
If a team is unable to play their match on the scheduled date, they may ask their opponent if they would be willing to make up the match on another date. If the opponent prefers to play on the originally scheduled date, the first team needs to find a substitute. This make-up date must be agreed upon by both teams. The team requesting the alternate date needs to notify the captain prior to the scheduled match. “Failure to do so results in a forfeit” The team rescheduling will be responsible for court reservations, all fees incurred, and sending the captain the scores once the match has been completed. The scores from the make-up match need to be reported to the captain before midnight on the Saturday of the rainout week for that session. If the scores are not turned into the league captain by the deadline, the team who rescheduled gets a forfeit, and the opponent gets 3 points. These rescheduled matches must be made up & scores reported before midnight of the rain out deadline. If you reschedule more than once in a league session, you are not eligible for an award. Please arrange for subs if you need to reschedule more than one match.
CTA Score Reporting:
Captains will be required to email their winners & score sheets to the League Director at the end of the sessions. If match results have not been received by the captain, by the deadline, the captain is to record a forfeit score of zero (0) for both teams unless the match had been rescheduled; in which case the captain is to record a forfeit score of zero for the team responsible for the reschedule and a score of 3 for the other team.
Each winning team member will receive a gift card.
